Holy Land Experience (Being A Sausage)?
From the Sydney Morning Herald comes an article by Michael Challenger who visited the Holy Land in Orlando, Florida. Yikes! Without smells, it isn't close to being authentic. This year's AAR/SBL meeting is in San Diego, thank goodness (we were once in Orlando). Never again.

I'm speechless. Really.
I grew up in the American South in the Fifties; until I was nineteen, I had no other experience of Christianity than the one represented by Holy Land, Inc, the earlier version. Perhaps understandably, this drove me to Freshman Agnosticism. It's frightening to think back on.
Two words...oi and veh!
Oy vey is right. And kyrie eleison too.
I missed the infamous AAR/SBL meeting in Orlando (was too broke and also in the middle of finishing Special Comps as I recall) but I heard the reports. Though not about this Holy Land place. (Mostly about the bad transportation.) But this is worse!
