Learning "Pages"

We recently visited our local Apple Store for an hour-long free workshop on features of Pages (part of iWork). What a fantastic opportunity! Result: I wrote a long letter using Pages last week and saved it to send as a .pdf file. The person leading the workshop was just the right mix of youth and upbeat clarity. She even promised to work on a particular problem and get back to us.

Meantime, "Q&A: Maintaining the Mac" at the NY Times (Dec 3rd) has some fascinating information:
The Mac system also automatically runs many routine maintenance chores in the background, like purging unneeded system logs or temporary files. By default, the Mac usually does its self-maintenance between 3:15 to 5:30 in the morning (in the computer’s local time zone) as long as the machine is left on and is not in sleep mode.

So will Pages replace using Word?

I'm thinking about getting Bibleworks 8--have you heard anything good/bad about it?
